ABOUT US

We are an amateur Dancesport couple, competing in the style of Standard (Ballroom). Our joint venture began when we partnered up at the beginning of 2021.

Both of us came into dance as adults, interestingly around the same time about 5 years ago. Initially dabbling in social dancing, our competitive journey began once we met.

Though we haven’t been dancing our whole lives, we are determined to see what can be achieved through hard work and passion.

In 2022, we entered in to the C-grade category of Dancesport, and finished the year placing 2nd in both our categories in the Australian Dancesport Championship, an annual national competition held in Melbourne. In 2024, we qualified to level up to B-grade, and have been enjoying the challenges that come with progress.

In mid-2023, we attended our first international training camp and competition. We were extremely excited to have the opportunity to improve our skills at a dance training camp in Italy and then to compete in one of the biggest International competitions of the year, the German Open Championship. In 2024, we continued this trajectory by attending a WDSF World Open Championship in Korea. This was followed by attending another training camp with some of the leading teachers from Europe.

Apart from our love for Ballroom dance, we also enjoy learning and experimenting in other styles, including our own freestyle version of contact improvisation.

2024 had us participate in Viewpoints Training at the National Theatre in Victoria. This was a really valuable venture, teaching us about various performance and acting elements and even included an opportunity to perform a small show with our class in June, 2024.

We value expression through movement and music, as well as the chance to play with movement outside a structured setting. We have often paired this with our love for nature, using various natural backdrops for our improvisation.
